Terms of service

Who you are buying from

Cova House is a collectibles house based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Client Services: support@covahouse.com. The House does not publish a telephone number; every enquiry is answered by email, and any question about these terms or about an order should be sent to that address.

What the House sells

Individually selected collectible objects. Each object is sold as a single unit. Every object page states its condition, including any material flaw the House has found, together with the evidence the House holds for its authenticity, provenance and condition. The House describes objects truthfully and does not present opinion as fact. Photographs show the actual object unless a page says otherwise.

Some objects are shown as Price on Request. These are not sold through checkout. They are handled by Client Services, and no purchase is completed until the House and the buyer agree terms separately in writing.

Prices and currency

Prices are shown and charged in United Arab Emirates dirhams (AED). Prices include value added tax where it applies. Prices do not include delivery charges, or import duties and taxes charged by a destination country, which are covered in the shipping policy.

The House may correct an obviously incorrect price. If a price is corrected after an order is placed, the House will contact the buyer and either honour the order or cancel it and refund in full. The House does not take payment for an object it cannot supply.

How a sale is formed

Placing an order is an offer to buy. The sale is formed when the House confirms the order and accepts payment. The House may decline an order before that point, including where the object is no longer available, where the House cannot ship safely or lawfully to the destination, where payment cannot be verified, or where the House reasonably suspects fraud. If the House declines, any amount taken is refunded in full.

Because each object is unique, an object may become unavailable between a visitor seeing it and completing checkout.

Payment

Payment is taken at checkout by card, through a PCI DSS compliant third-party payment provider. For selected high-value objects, the House may recommend bank transfer as the preferred payment method. An order paid by transfer is dispatched once the funds have arrived, not when the transfer is initiated. The House does not see or store card details, and does not offer instalments, buy-now-pay-later or gift cards.

Title and risk

Title passes when the House has received payment in full. Risk passes when the object is delivered to you, or to someone you have authorised to receive it.

Delivery

Delivery is covered by the shipping policy, which forms part of these terms. The House may refuse to ship to a destination where insurance is unavailable, where customs treatment is unacceptable, where sanctions or import restrictions apply, or where the transaction cannot be completed safely.

Returns

Returns are covered by the refund policy, which forms part of these terms. In summary: fourteen days from delivery for a change of mind, with return carriage paid by the buyer; and thirty days from the appearance of a defect for an object that is not as described, damaged or faulty, with the House paying return carriage. Accepted refunds are made to the original payment method within seven working days of the House completing its inspection.

Authenticity

Qualifying objects carry the House authenticity guarantee: twelve months from delivery, with a full refund of the price paid against return of the object if it proves inauthentic, and the House paying return carriage. Not every object qualifies, and each object page states whether that object is covered. An Object Passport, where issued, records the object and its evidence; it is not a certificate of ownership, and it is not issued for every object.

Limits

The House does not promise that an object will hold or increase in value. Nothing on this website is investment advice. The House is responsible for supplying the object as described; it is not responsible for a buyer's decisions about resale, insurance or storage.

The House does not limit its liability for fraud, for fraudulent misrepresentation, for death or personal injury caused by its negligence, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the law of the United Arab Emirates. Subject to that, and to the buyer's statutory rights, the House is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit or of expected value, arising from an object or from these terms.

Nothing in these terms removes or reduces any right a consumer has under the consumer protection law of the United Arab Emirates. Where a term in this document conflicts with such a right, that right applies.

Privacy

The privacy policy explains what the House holds and why. It forms part of these terms.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Where applicable, disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Dubai. Before a dispute reaches a court, the House asks that it be raised with Client Services at support@covahouse.com, which will respond and attempt to resolve it directly. Nothing in this clause prevents a customer from using a consumer complaint route available to them under UAE law.

Changes

The House may change these terms for future orders. The terms that apply to an order are the ones published when the order was placed.
